Frances Dixon’s work has developed after years of personal and artistic growth. Dixon is originally from New Jersey and is a self taught artist. Encouragement from her guidance counselor and art teachers lead her to take art seriously. She completed and passed the AP Art exam twice, won local contests and designed a mural in 2016 that stands on the second floor of her high school. She is currently completing her BFA in Animation and Multimedia at William Paterson University since 2016. At William Paterson, she has developed her own style of illustration with watercolor as her primary medium. Frances Dixon enjoys creating watercolor works that feature fictional characters in vague spaces, usually galaxies and nebulas. Her work reflects the inner turmoil she was raised within and currently works to overcome. She has solo exhibited her watercolors as an alumni at her high school’s “Celebration of the Arts”. The experience has garnered her a great amount of support from her hometown community to pursue her dreams. Currently she is working on her thesis project ‘The Mundane Adventures of Finn and Friends’ that showcases her design skills and tells a story of a ‘floating’ girl finding her place in a vague world. She intends to complete her thesis and graduate Spring 2020.
